High-Speed Rescue: Spencerport Crews Cut Free Five Victims Following Serious Rollover Collision

Spencerport, NY - Spencerport firefighters executed a rapid, high-intensity extrication operation in western Monroe County on Labor Day afternoon, freeing five trapped motorists across two heavily damaged vehicles in under half an hour.

Emergency personnel were dispatched shortly before 1:30 p.m. on September 7 to the intersection of South Union Street and Stony Point Road following reports of a serious two-vehicle collision with an overturned auto. First-arriving companies discovered a complex entrapment scene, with one vehicle resting on its side holding three pinned occupants and a second vehicle trapping two additional individuals.

Rescue crews immediately stabilized both vehicles and deployed hydraulic cutting and spreading tools simultaneously across both wreckages. Operating against the clock, firefighters systematically peeled back crumpled metal and severed structural posts to access the victims. In less than 30 minutes from the initial dispatch tone, all five patients were freed from the mangled wreckage.

Emergency medical crews stabilized the victims on scene before transporting all five patients via ambulance to the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) Trauma Center for advanced emergency care.

The large-scale rescue operation required tight coordination across Monroe County public safety agencies.
