Auburn Rescue 1 Responded to Second-Alarm Building Fire

Sandown, NH — September 16 — Rescue 1 from the Auburn Fire Department responded to a second-alarm building fire in Sandown.The crew assisted with fire suppression and overhaul activities at the scene.
Auburn firefighters worked together with Sandown Fire-Rescue and other mutual-aid companies during the incident.
They helped put out the fire and stayed on-site to assist with the overhaul process, checking all affected areas and working to find and extinguish any remaining hot spots.
Sandown Fire-Rescue is a volunteer department that serves the community and surrounding areas.
In 2024, the department responded to 609 emergency and service calls, including 194 fire-related incidents, and provided mutual aid to neighboring communities 13 times that year.
The response demonstrated the mutual-aid system used in southern New Hampshire, where fire departments collaborate to provide additional personnel and equipment during larger incidents.
The Auburn Fire Department is based at 55 Eaton Hill Road and operates as a combination department with both full-time and on-call firefighters.
The department offers fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue operations, and other emergency services.
