Four-Hour Scene Operation: Aurelius Volunteer Fire Department Manages Crash Investigation Support

Auburn, NY - Volunteer firefighters provided vital emergency medical assistance and extensive scene illumination late Monday night following a collision involving a motor vehicle and a bicyclist in Cayuga County.

At approximately 8:04 p.m. (2004 hours) on August 31, the Aurelius Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported vehicle versus bicycle accident. Responding emergency apparatus—including Rescue 2, Engine 1, Squad 1, and the Duty Chief—arrived on scene within three minutes to initiate immediate traffic safety, establish a secure perimeter, and assist with patient care.

Emergency medical personnel from Auburn Center Ambulance (ACA) evaluated and treated the injured bicyclist on scene before transporting the patient to a regional medical facility.

Following the initial emergency phase, Aurelius fire crews remained on location for nearly four hours, deploying portable and apparatus-mounted lighting systems and directing traffic to support the New York State Police throughout their formal colision reconstruction and investigation.

All operating Aurelius apparatus and volunter personel cleared the roadway and returned fully into service by 12:02 a.m. (0002 hours).
