Elevated Stream Operations: Fleming Fire Department Controls Fully Involved Barn Blaze

Auburn, NY - Volunteer firefighters deployed elevated master streams and aggressive handline attacks early Tuesday morning, containing a fully involved barn fire and protecting surrounding exposures in the Town of Scipio.

At approximately 3:12 a.m. (0312 hours) on August 25, the Fleming Fire Department Co. No. 1 was dispatched on mutual aid to assist the Scipio, Venice, Ledyard (SVL) Fire District for a reported structure fire on Mosher Road.

Fleming Truck 1 arrived first due on location, encountering a large agricultural barn completely engulfed in heavy flames. The crew immediately advanced two attack handlines, initiating direct suppression on the fire while strategically applying water curtains to shield and cool nearby structures from intense radiant heat.

Once mutual aid tankers and engines established a continuous rural water supply, Truck 1 set up its aerial apparatus and operated an elevated master stream to knock down deep-seated fire within the colapsed structural framing.

Personnel operated on scene for over three hours, fully extinguishing remaining hotspots before clearing the area at approximately 6:30 a.m. (0630 hours). The crew returned to Fleming Station 1, where support members assisted in decontaminating hose, servicing equipment, and placing Truck 1 back in full operationl readiness.
