Morning Rollover on NY-34 North: Genoa Firefighters Respond to Single-Vehicle Truck Crash

GENOA, NY — Volunteer firefighters and emergency medical personnel responded to a single-vehicle truck rollover on Route 34 North Thursday morning, securing the scene and assisting with patient transport following a rapid interagency response.

Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on August 27, emergency units were alerted to a reported truck rollover along NY-34 North. The incident was initially believed to be located within the adjacent Scipio, Venice, Ledyard Fire District, prompting an initial dispatch of their apparatus.

Upon arrival, Long Hill Car 2 assumed incident command, determined the crash site was situated within the Genoa fire district, and requested a response from the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department's Rescue/Engine.

Genoa responded swiftly with Engine 2 along with Chief Cars 1, 2, and 3. Upon arrival, emergency crews confirmed that both the driver and a canine companion had successfully self-extricated from the wreckage, which had come to rest off the roadway.

Firefighters secured the vehicle and hazard zone before transferring the scene to local law enforcement for investigation. Four Town Ambulance treated the driver and provided transport to the Upstate Trauma Center for further medical care.

All Genoa apparatus and personnel completed operational duties and returned to service by approximately 8:30 a.m.
