FDNY Memorial

Friday, The Nation Mourned those lost to the September 11, 2001, attacks and the Memory of those we continue to lose. It’s important to keep in mind that America, New York City, Washington DC and Shanksville, Pennsylvania, were deliberately attacked. The New York City Fire Department, the nation's largest fire department, suffered a tremendous loss on that day. This week, the FDNY has had several ceremonies, including this one today at New York City's Firemen's Memorial. The Firemen's Memorial was dedicated in 1913. To the men of the Fire Department of the City of New York who died at the call of duty, soldiers in a war that never ends this memorial is dedicated by the people of a grateful city. Erected MCMXI. The monument serves as a permanent reminder of the service of those lost to the people of New York City
