Seaford, N.Y. — October 4 — On Sunday evening, as local Bellmore firefighters engaged in operations at an active fire scene, the Seaford Fire Department stood ready to provide standby coverage. This strategic deployment ensured that essential fire protection services remained intact for the broader community while Bellmore's own units were fully committed to managing the incident.

Published accounts indicate that Bellmore fire suppression units were mobilized at approximately 8:40 p.m. to an alleged electrical fire at a dwelling located on Saint Marks Avenue, situated between Clarendon Street and Merrick Road. Upon arrival, responding personnel identified flames adjacent to an exterior electrical service panel, with smoke billowing from the basement windows. The property was reported to be unoccupied at the time of the incident.

The blaze was subdued by firefighting crews within the hour. Fortunately, no injuries were sustained, and authorities from both the county and police departments continue to investigate the incident's origin.

While Bellmore crews operated at the incident scene, Seaford Ladder 683 and North Merrick Engine 674 were stationed at Bellmore headquarters in a standby capacity, thereby ensuring sustained emergency response capability for the surrounding region. Operating as a volunteer fire and emergency medical services entity, the Seaford Fire Department extends mutual aid support to its neighboring departments and maintains its command center at 2170 Southard Avenue in Seaford, New York.
