Broome, NY - Volunteer firefighters made short work of a burning vehicle on Byron Street early this week, maintaining seamless operational coverage as simultaneous calls for service stretched across the district.

On September 1, the Hillcrest Fire Company No. 1 (Rockland County Department 6) was dispatched to the New City section of their coverage area for a reported vehicle fire.

Responding aboard Engine 6-1501, the crew arrived to find an active vehicle blaze, stretched an attack line, and rapidly contained and extinguished the fire before it could threaten nearby exposures. The rapid knockdown was executed during an exceptionally busy operational window, with additional Hillcrest apparatus and personnel concurrently responding to numerous overlapping emergency calls across the district.
