Hinsdale, NY - Firefighters quickly contained an appliance fire early Sunday afternoon, verifying that the hazard was fully extinguished before it could spread into the living areas of a residential home.

At approximately 1:29 p.m. (1329 hours) on September 13, the Hinsdale Volunteer Fire Department and mutual aid personnel from the Lyncourt Fire Department were dispatched to Roxboro Circle for a reported residential appliance fire.

Chief Jones arrived first on scene aboard Hinsdale Engine 8 and conducted an immediate 360-degree size-up, reporting nothing showing from three sides of the structure. Tanker Pumper 6 arrived shortly behind under the direction of Firefighter Juskow to provide operational backup and water supply.

Interior crews initiated an investigation inside the dwelling, confirming that the appliance fire had been successfully extinguished and had not extended into adjacent cabinetry or walls. With the hazard mitigated, incident command scaled back the response and held the scene with Hinsdale Engine 8 and Tanker Pumper 6 to complete ventilation and safety checks before clearing the area.
