HAWTHORNE, NJ — September 2 — Hawthorne Fire Department units responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Van Winkle Avenue and Lafayette Avenue, which resulted in multiple injuries and a spill of vehicle fluids.Firefighters collaborated with other emergency responders to help the injured and address the dangers at the accident site.
During the incident, the team prioritized ensuring the scene was safe and controlled the spilled fluids from the damaged vehicle.
Hawthorne Fire Department, as part of the borough’s all-volunteer fire service, handles hundreds of emergency calls each year.In 2024, the department answered over 600 emergency calls and conducted more than 120 training and drill sessions.
