Fully Involved Garage Fire In Bergenfield

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Bergenfield - A detached garage became well involved late Saturday night, threatening the home and nearby structures.

Around 9:30pm, the Bergenfield FD was dispatched to 23 North Taylor Street for a reported fire in a garage. PD units quickly arrived and reported smoke showing and began evacuating nearby residents. Officer Chris Naylis arrived on scene to a heavily involved 1.5 story detached garage and requested the working fire assignment brining a ladder from Englewood and Engine from Dumont to the scene. Engine 1 arrived, wrapped the hydrant and stretched an 1.75" down the driveway for the initial attack. A second handline was stretched as the heavy fire was knocked down. The fire was placed under control within 30 minutes as there was extensive overhaul to the garage. The home suffered minor heat damage. No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
