This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BERGENFIELD, NJ - A detached garage became well-involved late Saturday night, September 14th, threatening the home and nearby structures.

Around 9:30 pm, the Bergenfield FD was dispatched to 23 North Taylor Street for a reported fire in a garage. PD units quickly arrived, reported smoke showing and began evacuating nearby residents.

Officer Chris Naylis arrived on scene to a heavily involved 1.5-story detached garage and requested the working fire assignment, bringing a ladder from Englewood and engine from Dumont to the scene.

Engine 1 arrived, wrapped the hydrant and stretched a 1.75" line down the driveway for the initial attack. A second handline was stretched as the heavy fire was knocked down. The fire was placed under control within 30 minutes as there was extensive overhaul to the garage. The home suffered minor heat damage.

No injuries were reported, and the cause is under investigation.
