Mastic NY- On Tuesday September 14th the FDNY 343 Ride kicked off in Montauk NY. The ride which helps benefit various veteran’s organizations as well as helps to spread the message of not forgetting those 343 firefighters lost on 9/11 is usually done from Ground Zero to Peconic. However, this year in honor of the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 the riders are riding the full 343 miles, one for each firefighter and will end in the Washington DC area by Saturday. On the first day the riders rode through Suffolk County and stopped at several places along the way . One of those places that they stopped at was Mastic Fire Department where they were able to take a rest their legs from peddling. , rehydrate and adjust/ fix bikes if needed at the stop before heading back on the road. Upon pulling out they received a police escort from the Suffolk Police Department’s Motorcycle officers. Great job by Mastic FD as wells as Mastic Beach FD with the Flag Detail. We wish the riders a safe rest of their journey .
