Erie, NY - Firefighters from Seneca Hose Company 1 mounted a rapid, aggressive initial attack Monday afternoon, deploying a deck gun blitz and interior handlines to suppress an attached garage fire on Allendale Road in the Reserve fire district.

Dispatched on the initial alarm assignment on September 21 for a reported garage fire just off Orchard Park Road, Seneca Hose Engine 1 went en route within two minutes of the tone-out and arrived first due on the scene. Firefighters encountered heavy fire rolling from an attached residential garage, threatening an immediate push into the main living quarters.

Moving swiftly to prevent structural extension, Engine 1’s apparatus operator immediately brought the deck gun into action, unleashing a high-volume blitz attack using onboard tank water to knock down the main body of fire. Simultaneously, the crew pulled and stretched an attack handline toward the structure to follow up on remaining fire pockets. Moments later, East Seneca Engine 1 arrived and secured a forward supply line from a nearby municipal hydrant, providing a sustained, uninterrupted water supply to Seneca Hose.

Personnel from Seneca Hose Engine 1 and Rescue 5 operated alongside responding mutual aid partners for just under two hours, carrying out extensive overhaul, ventilation, and primary searches to confirm all fire extension had been neutralized. During the operation, Doyle Fire District Engine 1 stood by at Seneca Hose headquarters to maintain district emergency coverage before frontline units returned to service.
