DANBURY, Conn. (Sept. 6, 2025) — The Danbury Fire Department softball team captured the city’s industrial league championship and followed it up with a win over their longtime rivals, the Danbury Police Department.

Firefighters, members of IAFF Local 801, secured the league title Friday night with a 14-2 victory. It marked the department’s first championship after reforming a team earlier this year.

The momentum carried into Saturday’s friendly matchup at Roger’s Park, where firefighters defeated police 13-9. Supporters filled the stands for the midday game, cheering both sides.
