Crash on Route 15 in Sturbridge leaves 1 dead, 2 critically injured

STURBRIDGE, Mass. (Aug. 8, 2025) — Firefighters in Sturbridge responded Friday to a crash on Route 15 that left one person dead and two others critically injured, officials said.
One patient was entrapped and had to be extricated from the vehicle. Both survivors were transported to trauma centers — one by Southbridge Fire ambulance and the other by UMass Lifeflight helicopter, which landed at the scene.
The crash was part of a demanding day for Group 3, which also handled a garbage truck fire and a separate truck fire, including one on Interstate 90.
