— August 17, 2026 — During a third-alarm structure fire on Riverside Drive, the West Thompson Fire Department received mutual-aid tanker backup from the East Putnam Fire District.

Tanker 179 and Engine Tanker 179 were sent by East Putnam to help West Thompson firemen at the scene.

While West Thompson crews battled the structure fire, the third-alarm assignment brought more water-supply resources to the area. In situations when access to hydrants or the municipal water supply is restricted, tankers can play a crucial support role.
