STURBRIDGE, Mass. (Aug. 25, 2025) — Firefighters from Sturbridge and Holland joined for a joint training session Monday night, practicing search and rescue techniques in an acquired structure on Hall Road.
The drill focused on “vent, enter, search” operations, requiring crews to place a ground ladder to a second-floor window, simulate ventilation, enter a smoke-filled room and remove a victim down the ladder.
Captain Mullen of the Holland Fire Department led the training, which used a smoke machine to simulate real conditions.
