This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

On July 5, Lt. Schwabe of the Fire Department deployed with the District 6 Hand Crew to support continuing wildland firefighting operations at Quincy's Blue Hills Reservation.

After several days of brush fire activity, the specialized regional hand crew, composed of certified wildland firefighters from departments throughout Mutual Aid District 6, worked to fortify fire lines and put out any remaining hot spots. The crew consists of three members from the Ayer Fire Department.

Recent rainfall, according to department officials, aided crews in finishing their last extinguishing attempts.
