This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Our community truly amazes us! While we love hosting our Chicken BBQ and finding creative ways to raise funds—like our bottle and can drives—our voluntary tollbooth on Rt. 3 continues to be our most impactful fundraiser.

In just 4 hours, thanks to your generosity, we raised an incredible $5,447.71! WOW! Every dollar goes right back into strengthening our department and serving you better. We already have a few ideas in mind for how to put these funds to good use, and once plans are finalized, we’ll be sure to share an update.

This fundraiser is especially meaningful because it’s simple, heartfelt, and supported by so many of you. Balancing our careers, families, and dedication to this Department isn’t always easy—but your kindness makes it all worthwhile.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped, donated, or shared encouragement, and to our amazing team for making it possible: Chief William Gillespie, Deputy Fire Chief Lisa Gillespie, Captain Luther Thornton, Lieutenant Sam Ray, AEMT/Lieutenant Marcus Harden, Paramedic/Firefighter Jen Harden, Firefighter Billy Gillespie, and Firefighter Dottie Thornton.

From the bottom of our hearts—thank you for standing with us!
