Oakland, NJ - Oakland Fire Department crews responded just after 1:00 PM to a reported working structure fire in a two-story residential building in the 600 block of Webster Street, where heavy fire involvement was found showing from multiple sides and multiple levels upon arrival.

Firefighters were met with a rapidly evolving incident in a tightly packed area, with the involved structure situated between a mixed-use building and an adjacent three-story residential occupancy, raising immediate concerns for fire extension. Crews quickly initiated an aggressive interior and exterior fire attack to contain the spread and protect exposed properties on both sides.

The incident, which occurred on 2 September in Alameda County, presented additional challenges due to reinforced construction conditions that significantly limited initial access points into the structure. Despite the difficult entry, crews advanced operations steadily while coordinating suppression and exposure protection efforts.

Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in approximately 40 minutes, preventing further extension into the surrounding buildings and stabilizing the scene shortly after knockdown. One firefighter was evaluated and treated on scene for a minor injury, while no civilian injuries were reported.

The fire was successfully contained to the original structure, and the incident was placed under control shortly after 2:00 PM. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
