WATCH HILL, RI — September 4 — The Watch Hill Fire Department received a call about a fire at a building on Pasadena Avenue.The Misquamicut Fire Department provided automatic aid to the scene.

Firefighters arrived within four minutes and noticed thick black smoke coming from the chimney of the house.

They checked all the floors and found an issue related to the furnace.

Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras and gas meters to assess the home for heat and potential dangers.

Ladder 104 was sent to the roof to allow crews to examine the chimney and roof for any further issues.

Around 20 volunteers from both Watch Hill and Misquamicut Fire Departments, along with members of the Westerly Police Department, responded.

The response included two engine units, Ladder 104, Squad 100, and three chief officers.

Once the firefighters confirmed the house was safe, the residents were permitted to return.

The crew then cleared the area.No other hazards were reported.

This incident highlighted the importance of automatic aid and the effectiveness of coordinated efforts among nearby emergency services.
