On Wednesday, 3 September 2025, the Muddy Brook Fire Department reported that Route 169 between Dividend Road and Fairfield Drive was closed after a fallen tree brought down live power lines, creating a significant hazard. The department strongly advised the public to avoid the area entirely, including on foot, due to the high risk posed by energized lines.

Eversource Energy was notified and dispatched to secure the downed lines, while the Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) arranged a detour to reroute traffic safely. Motorists were advised to use Joy Road to County Road as the best alternative route.

A later departmental update confirmed that the situation had been resolved and Route 169 had been reopened, marking a safe conclusion to the road incident.
