Somers Firefighters Freed Occupant in Crash

Somers firefighters stabilize a vehicle during an extrication on Route 83 and Route 190

Crews used specialized tools to remove an occupant from the vehicle
Somers, CT – August 25, 2025 – At approximately 13:45, the Somers Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Route 83 and Route 190. Multiple companies were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a vehicle collision that required the extrication of one occupant. Crews immediately went to work using specialized rescue tools to remove the individual safely from the vehicle. The extrication process took approximately 10 minutes.
Once removed, the patient was transferred to the care of EMS and transported by Somers Fire Department Ambulance to Saint Francis Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
All Somers Fire Department units operated on scene for approximately 30 minutes. The accident remains under investigation by Connecticut State Police.
