Tuesday, 19 August 2025, at 7:00 p.m. – The Lyme Fire Department conducted an incentive training night focused on vehicle extrication techniques using a van conversion.
Firefighters trained with electric Hurst tools, including cutters and spreaders, as well as a Sawzall, to cut an access hole in the van’s roof. The drill simulated creating an extrication avenue if the van were on its side, helping members refine their skills for real-world emergencies.
Department members wrapped up the evening by returning the van to the rental company, noting with humor that they were glad to have opted for the extra insurance.
