Bath, ME - Bath Fire & Rescue Department Shift 2 responded to a reported brush fire off High Street, where crews arrived to find a small but actively spreading fire in a wooded area near residential properties.

On August 26, 2026, in Sagadahoc County, firefighters quickly identified the cause as a fallen tree branch that had come down onto a power line, igniting surrounding vegetation. Crews initiated an aggressive initial attack, working to contain the fire and limit its spread under dry conditions.

Through coordinated suppression efforts and efficient deployment of resources, the fire was held to approximately a quarter acre. Crews focused on perimeter control and exposure protection, sucessfully preventing the fire from extending to nearby homes and structures.

West Bath Fire/Rescue asisted on scene, providing a tanker to support water supply operations and ensure sustained firefightng efforts. The combined response allowed for quick containment and control of the incident.
