Bath, ME - Bath Fire & Rescue Department responded to a reported woods fire in the area of 100 High Street, where crews arrived to find approximately a half-acre fire actively spreading through wooded terrain.

On August 21, 2026, in Sagadahoc County, firefighters were met with challenging conditions, including steep terrain and very dry fuels that contributed to fire spread. Shift 1 personnel worked aggressively to contain the fire, utilizing coordinated suppression efforts to hold the perimeter and prevent further extension.

Operations required sustained effort and strong coordination, with crews navigating difficult access while maintaining control of the incident. Their work successfully brought the fire under control despite the environmental challenges present on scene.

Assistance was provided by the Maine Forestry Service, BIW Fire Department, Town of Phippsburg Fire and Rescue, Woolwich Fire/Rescue, West Bath Fire/Rescue, and Arrowsic Fire Department.

Additional support from Bath Police Department ensured safe traffic control, while Sagadahoc County Communications Center and Sagadahoc County Emergency Management Agency coordinated resources throughout the incident.

The call also marked a memorable first response for two of the department’s newest members, Firefighter Vallade and Firefighter Follett, who immediately stepped into action on their first day with the department.
