Wednesday night, 3 September 2025 – The Franklin Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Andover Volunteer Fire Department, participated in a large-scale mutual aid drill that focused on tanker shuttle operations, water supply management, and interdepartmental communications.

A total of 12 Franklin members took part in the exercise, which was designed to strengthen both technical skills and leadership development. What set this drill apart was its emphasis on empowering line-level firefighters to step into leadership roles, make decisions, and guide small teams under realistic conditions.

Department officials said the experience was both valuable and inspiring, as firefighters rose to the challenge, worked together seamlessly, and demonstrated the confidence needed to manage critical aspects of emergency operations.
