Central Village, Conn. — September 4, 2025 — The Central Village Fire Company Station 97 hosted a joint vehicle extrication training exercise on Thursday evening, joined by members of the Plainfield Fire Department and Moosup Fire Department.
The drill focused on advanced techniques for removing accident victims from vehicles when conventional entry methods are not possible. Using hydraulic and manual tools, firefighters practiced cutting, spreading, and stabilizing vehicles in order to simulate complex crash scenarios.
Officials emphasized that such training is essential for maintaining readiness in high-risk, low-frequency emergencies. “These exercises allow firefighters to refresh critical skills, improve interdepartmental coordination, and ensure the highest level of safety for the public,” the department stated.
Fire officials described the drill as a success and commended all participants for their professionalism and dedication to ongoing training.
