Rockland, ME - Units from the Rockland Fire & EMS Department responded to a serious motor vehicle crash on Dover Road, where two vehicles had left the roadway and come to rest over a steep embankment. Upon arrival, crews found a complex scene involving significant vehicle damage and entrapment in both vehicles.

Firefighters immediately initiated a coordinated rescue operation, stabilizing both vehicles to ensure safe access for extrication efforts. Due to the severity of the impact and positioning down the embankment, crews worked in tandem to perform dual extrications, carefully removing both patients while maintaining scene safety on the unstable slope.

The incident, which occurred on 27 August in Knox County, required precise coordination between fire, EMS, and additional responding units to manage patient care and safe removal from the difficult terrain.

Once both occupants were successfully extricated, they were transferred to awaiting EMS for advanced medical treatment. The scene was later secured after final checks ensured no further hazards remained.
