FALMOUTH, Mass. (Friday, Aug. 1, 2025) — Firefighters in Falmouth quickly contained a basement fire early Friday morning at a home in the Waterside on Coonamessett neighborhood, officials said.
Crews were dispatched around 3 a.m. and found heavy smoke filling the residence. The fire was confined to a single appliance in the basement.
All residents evacuated safely before firefighters arrived. One person was evaluated at the scene for possible smoke exposure but declined transport to the hospital.
The home was ventilated to clear smoke, and no further damage was reported.
The cause is under investigation by the Falmouth Fire/Rescue Fire Investigation Unit. Mutual aid was provided by departments from Joint Base Cape Cod, Bourne, Mashpee, Onset and Sandwich.
