Hawleyville, CT - The Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company #1 operated alongside Newtown Hook & Ladder and additional mutual aid companies following reports of a structure fire on Pebble Road involving an attached grange.

On August 26, at approximately 1220 hours in Newtown, all Newtown fire companies were dispatched to the incident. Car 301, Engine 331, and Tanker 339 responded as part of the initial alarm assignment, with additional mutual aid resources assisting on scene.

Upon arrival, crews encountered an active fire within the grange portion of the structure. Firefighters quickly established fire attack lines and water supply operations, working in a coordinated effort to prevent extension beyond the involved area.

Through a prompt and disciplined interior and exterior response, crews were able to contain the fire to the grange.The fire was successfully held to the area of origin, preventing further spread to the rest of the structure. Companies operated on scene for overhaul and confirmation of full extinguishment before returning to service.

The coordinated response from all responding units once again highlighted the effectiveness of rapid deployment and strong inter-company cooperation within the Newtown fire service.
