Bristol, RI - At approximately 2:30 a.m., the Bristol Fire Department responded to Meadow Lane in Bristol, Rhode Island, for a reported structure fire. A Bristol Police officer on patrol initially observed an exterior fire at a residence that was beginning to extend into the structure and immediately assisted occupants in evacuating the home safely.

Fire crews arrived on scene to find fire extending into the attic area and quickly initiated an aggressive fire attack. Companies stretched handlines to the involved areas and worked in coordinated fashion to stop further fire spread, preventing extension throughout the structure while also conducting primary search operations under active fire conditions.

On 31 August 2026, the incident was brought under control within approximately 20 minutes. Crews then transitioned into overhaul operations, opening up affected areas to ensure complete extinguishment and checking for hidden fire extension within walls, attic spaces, and adjoining compartments.

The Rhode Island State Fire Marshal’s Office assisted with the investigation and determined the fire originated from a generator operating during a power outage in the area. Multiple partner agencies supported the response, and no injuries were reported as crews completed final scene stabilization and turnover.
