AVON, Conn. (Monday, Aug. 11, 2025) — Avon volunteer firefighters took part in a live fire training drill this week at the regional training facility in Farmington, officials said.

The hands-on session focused on core skills including fire attack, search and rescue, ventilation and hose operations. Officials said training under live fire conditions allows crews to practice in a realistic, high-stress environment.

“These drills prepare us to respond with confidence and precision when real emergencies happen,” the department said in a statement.

Avon officials said they are grateful to have access to the Farmington facility, which provides a safe and effective space for repeated training.
