On Wednesday evening shortly after 7:00 p.m, (8/14), firefighters responded to a report of smoke inside the Falmouth Housing Corporation’s apartment building at 704 Main Street. Crews discovered a light smoke condition on the third floor and immediately evacuated the building as a precaution.
During the investigation, firefighters determined the source to be a partially burned kitchen towel inside one of the apartments. The tenant had already doused the towel with water, preventing further damage. No fire damage occurred, and the smoke quickly dissipated once the building was ventilated.
Residents were safely allowed to return once conditions were cleared. One individual from the building was evaluated for a non-life-threatening medical issue unrelated to the smoke.
