Firefighters training placed a strong emphasis on critical SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) skills, including donning procedures, zero-visibility navigation, and effective air management. Properly and quickly donning an SCBA is essential, as it serves as the only lifeline for breathable air in hazardous environments.
Firefighters practiced declaring a Mayday, following a hoseline, and finding their way out of a structure while wearing blacked-out masks to simulate conditions with no visibility. Crews also navigated an air management obstacle course designed to test their ability to conserve and monitor their air supply while operating under stress.
This hands-on training ensured members sharpened their survival skills and reinforced the importance of discipline and awareness while working in dangerous situations.
