At approximately 0811 hours, Ocean City Fire Department Engine 3, Tower 4, Engine 1, Battalion Chief 7, Medic 1, Medic 3, Medic 4, and Ocean Pines Fire Company Tower 11 were dispatched to Box Area 3, 5500 Coastal Highway Building C, for a reported structure fire. Battalion Chief 7 arrived on scene 3 minutes after the dispatch and had nothing showing from 3 of the 4 sides of the building and established 56th Street command. Engine 3, the first arriving engine company, lay into the building from a hydrant on 56th St and had its own water supply. They stretched a 1.75” cross-lay to the 2nd floor on the Alpha Charlie corner, where they had a smoke condition at the door. Tower 4 pulled behind engine 3, put the truck to the roof, and threw ground ladders. Engine 1 took a hydrant on 55th St and secured a secondary water supply. Engine 3 gained entry into the unit and found a mop and an HVAC unit that was on fire but was currently out. They still had a heavy smoke condition inside and used PPV Fans to ventilate the structure. Ocean Pines Fire Company Tower 11 covered Ocean City Station 3’s first due while crews operated. Command was terminated at 0850 hours, and all units went back into service.
