Littleton, NH - Littleton Fire Rescue units were dispatched on August 24, 2026, to McDonald’s in Littleton, Grafton County, New Hampshire, after employees reported smoke inside the building, followed by activation of the fire alarm system and a 911 call to Grafton County Dispatch.

Upon arrival, Engine 1, Ambulance 3, Ladder 1, and Car 1 investigated light smoke conditions within the restaurant. Crews conducted a systmatic interior and systems check to determine the source of the issue. Firefighters ultimately traced the problem to a rooftop HVAC unit (RTU), which was found to be producing the smoke condition affecting the ocupancy.

The unit was secured to eliminate any further hazard, and crews then performed ventilation operations to clear smoke from the building and restore normal air quality. Firefighters ensured there was no extension beyond the mechanical system and confirmed the structure was safe prior to clearing.

The prompt identification and mitigation prevented escalation into a larger commercial fire incident and allowed the business to resume normal operations after clearance.
