Smoke-Filled Home Prompts Fire Response on Jefferson Street
Just before midnight at 11:45 p.m., Riverside Fire Company, along with mutual aid units, was dispatched to the 500 block of Jefferson Street for a reported house fire. On arrival, a mutual aid officer reported no fire showing from the exterior.
Further investigation revealed a kitchen fire that had already self-extinguished, though the residence was heavily filled with smoke. Deputy Chief 7001 assumed command and directed Engine 7011 to stretch a dry line and check for possible fire extension.
Firefighters from Districts 70, 23, and 24 conducted thorough primary searches and confirmed there was no extension beyond the kitchen area. The scene was later scaled back to District 70 while the fire marshal carried out an investigation.
Riverside Fire Company thanks all mutual aid partners for their swift response and assistance.
