PRINCETON, NJ — August 25, 2026 —  Early on Tuesday morning, while Princeton crews were committed to a working fire, members of Kingston Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 temporarily covered Princeton Fire Department Station 60.

The Princeton station was manned by Kingston firemen from roughly 3:42 a.m. to 4:59 a.m., according to the Kingston Volunteer Fire Company.

While local personnel and equipment were working at the different fire scene, the coverage allowed a fire company to stay in Princeton.

The Princeton Fire agency maintains multiple fire stations and specialized equipment around the community and functions as a combination career and volunteer agency. The current Princeton fleet, which consists of Engine 60, Rescue 60, Ladder 60, and several specialist units, is connected to Station 60. The Kingston members were released from the standby assignment at 4:59 a.m., according to the company's report.
