Firefighters extinguish dumpster blaze near Wayne storage facility

WAYNE, N.J. (Monday, Aug. 4, 2025) — Firefighters knocked down a dumpster fire Monday morning near a storage facility on Willowbrook Boulevard, officials said.

The call came in around 10:53 a.m. for a 30-yard dumpster reportedly containing possible explosive materials. Assistant Chief 1 arrived to find an active fire and struck a second alarm, bringing in Wayne Fire Company No. 5 for additional support, according to Community Volunteer Fire Company No. 1.

Crews quickly contained and extinguished the flames. Investigators confirmed there was no extension to the nearby structure and no hazardous materials in the debris.

Wayne police and the Wayne Township Memorial First Aid Squad also assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
