Somerville, N.J. — August 11 — An overturned car near the intersection of Gaston and Union prompted the Somerville Fire Department to react. Before the Somerville Rescue Squad evacuated the occupant, Chief 57 and Engine 57-1 arrived and stabilized the car using cribbing.

Fluids found on the road were reported to Somerset County Haz-Mat. Before handing over control to the Somerville Police Department, firefighters secured the car and assisted in making the area safe. Fire-rescue operations, such as vehicle stabilization, occupant removal, and hazard mitigation, were part of the reaction.

According to the department's website, the Somerville Fire Department was located at 85 N. Gaston Avenue, Somerville, N.J. 08876. Engine Company No. 1, West End Hose, Lincoln Hose, and Central Hook and Ladder were mentioned as department companies on the department's history site.
