Vehicle Slams Into Tree in Early-Morning Baldwin Crash

Baldwin, NY - In the early morning of august 19 2026 in the Baldwin city, The Baldwin Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident in the early hours of the morning after a vehicle reportedly crashed into a tree at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Laurel Avenue.
The emergency call came in at approximately 2:59 a.m., prompting a response from Hose Company 1 (201), Hose Company 2 (202), and Ambulance 2010, under the command of 1st Deputy Chief Gary Benedict (2051).
Deputy Chief Benedict arrived at the scene first and, anticipating the possibility that the driver or passengers might be trapped inside the vehicle, requested additional support from the department’s two truck companies.
When firefighters reached the vehicle, they found that the driver had already managed to get out before emergency crews arrived. Firefighters then assisted the Nassau County Police Department with operations at the crash site.
The injured driver was subsequently transported by a Nassau County Police Department ambulance to South Nassau Communities Hospital for further medical evaluation.
After firefighters completed their duties and the scene was secured, responsibility for the incident was transferred to the Nassau County Police Department. All Baldwin Fire Department units had returned to service by 3:22 a.m.
