Manchester, N.H. — August 15 — At 1:47 a.m., the City of Manchester Fire Department arrived at 322 Main St. in response to a building fire that was reported. When first responders arrived, they discovered that a residential apartment building had a strong fire on all three levels and promptly called for a second alarm. While searches were being done, crews ran hose lines inside. Before firefighters arrived, every occupant had fled.
Fire spread to two nearby residential buildings, prompting a third alarm and additional resources. Crews advanced lines into both exposures and stopped further spread. After part of the original building’s roof collapsed, firefighters switched to defensive operations. The fire was under control at 3:36 a.m. Three buildings were involved, displacing 20 residents. One police officer was treated for smoke inhalation and released. The cause remains under investigation.
