Saturday, 9 August 2025 – As students prepare to head back to school, fire officials are reminding families that college fire safety should be a top priority when moving into dorms or off-campus housing.

Living away from home for the first time gives young adults more independence but also comes with greater responsibility for personal safety. Students and parents are encouraged to check housing for working smoke alarms, clear exit routes, and safe use of appliances.
