Saturday, 19 July 2025 – Firefighters from Jackson Township Fire Stations 55 and 57 responded to a reported gas leak on Citadel Drive.

Upon arrival, crews discovered an active leak from the main gas line feeding the building, located beneath a patio. Working alongside the Jackson Police Department, firefighters evacuated the building as a precaution and established a vapor dispersion fog pattern to prevent gas vapors from entering through the soffits.

Crews remained on scene for about two hours, assisting New Jersey Natural Gas in stopping the leak and ensuring resident safety. Once secured, firefighters conducted checks of all affected apartments and ventilated several units before allowing occupants to return.

Cassville Volunteer Fire Company #1 Chief Brian McCarthy assisted on scene, while Jackson Township EMS provided rehabilitation services for all operating personnel.
