Firefighters brought a two-alarm blaze under control late Friday after flames broke out in a structure near 1st Street and Atlantic Avenue, officials said.

The fire was reported around 10:50 p.m. A-Platoon crews and Ocean City police responded, with Battalion 1 Chief J. Quigley Jr. establishing command and striking a working fire dispatch that recalled off-duty personnel. A second alarm was later transmitted to bring in additional resources.

Engine 1 arrived moments later, secured a water supply and advanced a line to the rear of the building, where heavy fire was showing on side C. Firefighters knocked down much of the blaze before moving inside for an offensive interior attack to limit further damage.

Truck 1 conducted the primary search and located fire extension, while Engines 2 and 3 supported the hose line and carried out a secondary search, officials said. Crews then performed extensive overhaul to ensure the fire was fully extinguished.

No injuries were reported. The Cape May County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
