This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

At 03:27am Northwest Connecticut Public Safety Communications Center alerted the Woodbury Fire Department to a house fire on Upper Grassy Hill Road. While enroute, Chief Janet Morgan upgrade the response to include the Roxbury Volunteer Fire Department, the Southbury Volunteer Fire Department, and the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire/Rescue to respond to the scene. Roxbury FD6 arrived first on scene and reported heavy fire in a one story house, with the sole occupant accounted for. Woodbury Engine 8 (2500 gallon Engine/Tanker) arrived first. An 1 3/4" as well as a blitzfire were immediately deployed off the rig. While the fire attack was going on, Roxbury Engine 10 was directed to reverse lay from Engine 8 to a dry hydrant on Woodland Lane, 1700 feet away. Chief Morgan also put in a call for more assistance from the Bethlehem, Washington, and Middlebury Volunteer Fire Departments to the scene with manpower. Oxford and Watertown FD's provided back fill.

Once the positive water source was established, more handlines were deployed and the fire was knocked down in short order. Woodbury and Bethlehem EMS stood by at the scene with ambulances, while Roxbury EMS brought their Incident Rehab Unit and provided rehab. There were no injuries and the fire marshal is investigating.
