Unity Crews Responded to Kanto Road Brush Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Unity, N.H. — August 15 — A suspected brush fire prompted the Unity Fire Department Association to respond to the end of Kanto Road. Until firemen arrived, the homeowner contained the fire with an excavator. The remaining fire was swiftly put out, and workers looked about for any more dangers. It was thought that a spark or hot exhaust component from a chainsaw made touch with dry grass, igniting the fire.

Strong winds and dry weather made it more likely that the fire would spread. Early intervention by the homeowner and equipment operator reduced the fire's spread before firefighters finished suppression efforts and helped keep it contained until responders arrived.
