Mutual Aid Assisted at Chicopee Structure Fire

Chicopee, MA. — July 31 — Following reports of a structure fire, the Chicopee Fire Department arrived on Emerson Street. All of the residents were safely evacuated as firefighters came and put out the fire. Twenty-four residents who had been displaced by the tragedy received assistance from the American Red Cross. Throughout the morning, crews stayed on the scene. While the Chicopee DPW helped with extra water in the road, Chicopee Electric Light responded to help safely restore power to nearby homes.


The Massachusetts Department of Fire Services offered support as well. Westover Fire and Emergency Services and the Holyoke Fire Department offered mutual aid. During the response, a number of agencies assisted with resident aid, utility operations, and fire suppression.
